Homemade croutons might sound like one of those things that takes extra effort, but they're actually very simple and easy to make. They come out nice and crisp, flavorful, and so much better than store bought. They're perfect for salads, soups, gatherings, and you can easily make them ahead of time for a party.

Ingredients

1 loaf of bread, cut into bit sized pieces

1/4 cup of olive oil

2 teaspoons garlic salt

2 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon cracked black pepper

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet with olive oil spray.

  2. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl, evenly drizzle the olive oil over the bread cubes. Then sprinkle the garlic salt, onion powder, cracked black pepper over the bread. Toss until well combined.

  3. Spread the cubes onto a single layer on baking sheet.

  4. Bake until golden, shaking or tossing the pan every 10 minutes so the croutons brown evenly on all sides. Cooking time is going to depend on how thick your cubes are. (Mine usually take around 15 minutes.)

  5. Remove from the oven, and let cool completly. Use immediately, or store in airtight contair or ziplock up to 4 days.
